“Thanks Polly and Larry”
Council member Chris Kerrigan advocated a maximum of 10 residents for the first year, rather than the negotiated limit of 24. But Glass said a 10-bed limit was the city's starting point in the negotiations. Teen Challenge originally sought a 50-bed facility.
Teen Challenge got the green light 3-1, Kerrigan dissenting.

Troll!
Bashing Christians and their organizations is one thing, but taking pot shots at Muslims is WAY out of line. Get with the program.

What do Muslims have to do with this, you clowns?
This sounds like a good compromise. It'll be a better use of the building than the awful Pentacostals (who kept a pathetically mis-treated dog tied up in the back) made of it.
Once the folks in the neighborhood find that their new Christian neighbors are a true asset to the saftey and well-being of the area, Teeh Challenge can add more clients.

what was compromised? its still 50 beds. still no licensing. what was changed? pacifying a few neighbors in a meeting is NOT compromise, im sorry. i challenge anyone to find any changes made.
the muslim comments are well taken. humboldt county, and america in general is run by fundamentalist christians. we live in a theocracy, not a democracy. a muslim rehab center would never be allowed here thanks to the powers that be. i support a non-licensed 50 bed rehab center for muslims. i would offer my building for lease. anything to support "freedom of religion"!!!!!!
Don't you know that this is the only "industry" tolerated any longer by the "anti-anti's"? Now we need to bring in people to Humboldt with drug and alcohol problems.
It was a 3 to 1 vote, Kerrigan against (like always) and Jones recused. I wonder if Chris ever feels lonely since he has NO impact on council decisions. Hell, Larry Glass, in just the few months on the council, has had more impact than Chris has had in all these years.
It was a 3 to 1 vote
Whoops. Thanks for the correction. I'd originally written 3 out of 4 but brain farted while editing.

Anyone see Sue Brandenburg go off on Polly Endert calling her brainless or something like that and calling her?? a *#$@Head?
I think that was in the Times Standard.

Chris Kerrigan has accomplished nothing, you are so right. Bonnie Neely must find it hard to support him. I voted for him and unless the papers lie that Rex Bohn who they said was in control of the gas prices (they are even higher since he sold Renners) does more for the community volunteering than Chris gets paid to do.
Following the sparkling prose of the person who left the post of 01:36:00 PM is even more delightful and challenging than doing a difficult crossword puzzle with the solution page missing and part of the page torn.
I really wonder why any such facility is allowed to operate without being licensed.
Even DOGS have to be licensed.
(Maybe if it is a religious dog, there will be an exception to the rule?)

im still waiting for sometime to comment on what "compromises" were made by TC to the neighbors...........
Glass is doing right not behind closed doors. He would never tell one party in a dispute not to tell anyone they had talked about the issue. There is a county supervisor that does.

Agree ONE HUNDRED PERCENT. I think Larry is a fine councilman, but I think that he was dead wrong to insinuate "backroom deals" during the elections. There are certain negotions, such as personell negotions, litigation AND property negotions that are done in CLOSED SESSION.
That doesnt mean that they are shady backroom deals, and I think that Mr. Glass is learning this.

Glass is doing great but Kerrigan, whom I have supported in the past, doesn't seem to have a grasp of the issues any more. The last city council meeting he sounded like someone who really doesn't have any interest in serving out his term. Anyone heard anything?
kerrigan was the ONLY one who did grasp the issue....the teen challenge project was too big, 50 beds doesnt fit in the zoning....hes the only one withthe guts to stand up to religious fundamentalists who push people around.....
